Media Diary Post

Recently, I have finished the rough treatment for the music video I am making using the song 'Sound the Angels' by The Costigans. I feel like the treatment I have produced fits with the song well. This is because I have firstly thought about the tempo of the song, in certain sections the tempo is quite fast and therefore I thought of using a running scene.

The song also sounds quite romantic, so for the narrative I chose to include a short story about a couple together. the first couple of verses to the song sound as thought there are problems in the relationship, I want to show this by creating a scene in the bedroom where the man/ vocalist looks at the woman sleeping in a concerned and sad way, which implies to the audience that there is something wrong.

I also chose to include flashbacks of what the couple use to be like together, which gives helps the audience understand there is something wrong in their relationship. You can see the difference between the scene at the start in comparison to the flashbacks because of the facial expressions used and also how close the couple are.

Indie bands like to show that they are serious about the music they produce and so like to show scenes of the band playing their instruments together. For example:

So, I decided to include a few scenes of the band playing their instruments and singing together. I also chose to show this outside as the song talks a lot about the night sky.
I wanted to arrange the instruments/ lighting and band members in a square or circle to make them bolder within the scene. I also think it looks more interesting in comparison to placing the props in a straight line.

In the last few verses, I chose to connect the performance to the narrative. I did this by making the vocalist/ actor run from a scene in the narrative on to the performing set, and also see in front of him singing, the woman on the performing set. By doing this it connects both scenes together well and looks interesting.
